Best Place to Stay in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte

| Posted in , , , , , , , , , , | Posted on 7/29/2010 05:20:00 AM

We had a road trip to Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte a week ago. The trip took us around 15 hours to get there with a few stops for food and a need to use of a comfort room. A group of 9 inside a van, all except one are first timers to visit Pagudpud. With no experience and full knowledge of getting to Pagudpud, we rely on consulting maps, signs and asking people of how to get there. We nearly got lost for a moment but we managed to arrive at the Blue Lagoon Area of Pagudpud at 6:00 AM.

We were torn between 2 choices of where to stay, Hannah’s Beach Resort or Agua Seda Beach resort. Both are in the Blue Lagoon Area, otherwise known as Maira-ira Point. Hannah’s Beach Resort is a nice place to stay but is more expensive. It has a pool, air conditioned rooms with cable TV and other amenities. The Agua Seda Beach Resort is a place to stay if you’re in a tight budget. The room we rented with air condition, 3 queen size beds and a shower costs us only 4000 PhP, it’ll be double the price if we stayed in Hannah’s Beach Resort.

Can't Download and Install Skyfire.

I just recently did a hard reset on my Nokia N97. I have to reinstall some applications after that. The installation of the applications and games went smooth until I tried downloading the Skyfire Browser. Skyfire is one of my preferred browsers since it is the closest thing to having a Mozilla Firefox browser on a Nokia N97 phone. But here’s what I see when I tried to download and install Skyfire again to my mobile phone:

So I tried to find the reason of its unavailability since I have no problem installing it last year. Here’s what I found out:

Goal Shot by Andres Iniesta

What it takes is a final goal shot by 26 years old Andres Iniesta for Spain to grab the World Cup. The winning goal came from extra time of the Netherlands versus Spain final match. Dutch defenders protested afterwards that Iniesta was offside but  replays showed Iniesta was onside when the pass was played.

Spain is definitely the best team. The man who refuses to shoot finally scores the winning goal  for Spain! Viva Andrés Iniesta!

Enjoy this video of Andres Iniesta during his earlier years as a soccer player.

My part time job as online typist required a lot of searching for names, places and phone numbers. Was really surprised when this came up. Google only asked me to enter the correct captcha to searching their search engine.

DFA Passport Application and Appointment

| Posted in , , , , , , , | Posted on 7/08/2010 01:14:00 AM

I tried the application for passport online yesterday since I need one for our upcoming trip to Singapore. The process is very easy and setting up an appearance at DFA , though the available date is till next month, is without hassle.

You can set up a DFA appointment through online and by calling their hot line. I did the online process since I have an internet connection but no telephone line in our house. If you opt to set an appointment online, you just have to fill out all the information requested, and choose the available appearance at DFA. You’ll receive a confirmation via email after completing the form which you can print out after verifying and bring the said form along with the required documents.

Sun Broadband Outside Metro Manila

| Posted in , , , | Posted on 7/06/2010 06:50:00 AM

I was able to test Sun Broadband outside Manila when we had a road trip to Vigan City in Ilocos Norte. I thought that it won’t work since the advertisement said that Sun Broadband is available only Metrowide.  But I was able to connect to the Internet after setting the network to GSM. No 3G or HSDPA, just a connection through EDGE. The speed is slow but usable and stable. Too bad I forgot to do a Speedtest there.

Road Trip to Vigan City.

On a lazy Sunday morning a friend asked me if I want to join for a road trip to Vigan that same day. I hesitated at first for it’s going to interfere with my pending tasks at hand. But I changed my mind and grab an extra set of clothes, money and some things I need for the trip.

A group of four, we started the travel by car at around 10:00 PM. The road is fine, just a few bumps from here and there but it’s smooth most of the way. We even took a wrong turn and was in Benguet for a short period of time. But that’s what road trips are, some bloopers and wrong turns. I slept most of the trip, just woke up just to blurt out some stupid funny remarks. We stop occasionally for change of driver and a gas refill. There’s no stopping for food as the car is loaded with snacks and drinks. The travel to Vigan just took 6 hours, including the wrong turn to Benguet.

Wrong turn to Benguet

At 4:00 AM, we are already in the heart of Vigan City, the Plaza. We rest for some time. Watch the early joggers pass by and just enjoy the silence and beauty of the place. And then we got hungry. All the major food establishments are closed. We asked the people at the Inn besides the church if they serve breakfast but they told us that they serve breakfast at 6:00 AM. So we waited, strolled and take pictures to waste the time.

Gloria Arroyo Files Charter Change

| Posted in , , | Posted on 7/01/2010 12:00:00 AM

On her first day as a representative, Gloria Macapagal Arroyo filed a House resolution which calls for a constitutional convention. She co-authored this proposal for amendments or revision to the 1987 Philippine Constitution with her son Camarines Sur Representative Diosdado Arroyo.

This is quite expected. The question is will the others support this knowing the motive behind the Resolution? And how in the first place did the son of an Ex President of the Philippines end up as a Representative of Camarines Sur? What do you think?
