Justin Bieber Concert in Manila (Mall of Asia)

Again, I am not a fan of Justin Bieber. In fact, a get annoyed by that kid’s looks and voice. But good news for JB’s fans, he will be having a concert on May 10, 2011 at the Mall of Asia Concert Grounds. Smart is producing the concert and they are the one who announced the big news.

It’s going to be a big Bieber Fever next year... Baby, baby, baby oh! Surprisingly, I found myself singing to the tune of Justin’s song from time to time.  That’s how powerful JB is, coz no matter how you dislike the kid, your subconscious pick up the tune and lyrics of his songs.

Hotline number to report an abusive Taxi Driver

Riding a taxi cab can be a nightmare here in Metro Manila. Almost everyone who rides a cab have some story to tell about abusive drivers. Choosing passengers/destination, not using the meter and asking more than the right fare are just some of the examples. Other situations are even worse. I was also a victim of some of their modus operandi. The only thing I did was list the plate numbers but never get to complain about it at the LTFRB.

Good thing is that the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) activated a hotline and text number to receive complaints from commuters. Passengers can either call 7890 or text 0918-8848484. This is a good timing since the Holiday season is near.

Nike Club 5KM Run Manila

Nike Philippines will be organizing a running event for December 5 2010. Yes, that’s the same date with QCIM2. Well, the target participants for the Nike Club Run Manila are students, so it’ll be no problem for them to be getting some participants (registration for students is only 100 PhP). Sad to say, obviously there’s no singlet for this race.

Another run that is going to take place on December 5 2010 is the 1st Nurse’s Fun Run, a 3.5KM buddy system run. Although the prize money for this run is high and I’m a nurse, I registered for the 21K category of Quezon City International Marathon for some reasons.

Traveling JetStar Airways to Singapore

My mom, sis and niece had a week vacation a week ago to Singapore. It was my mom who booked the flight via JetStar Airways. She was choosing between Tiger Airways and Jetstar but chose the latter because of convenience. My mom registered online and avail of the promotional discounted round trip fees to Singapore and back to Manila.

We board the plane in Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1. Although the fare was cheap, it does not reflect in the service given by the in cabin crew. They even offered to have one of our carry on to be checked in for free. The take off was on time. Boarding was organized. There’s enough room for our hand carry luggage. The flight both ways was comfortable with just enough room. The toilets are clean and well maintained. Since it was a short trip, we did not bother tasting the food in their menu. The take off and landing was smooth.

I recommend JetStar Airways for those who are traveling in tight budget. You can pay via credit card and chose your seat online. Just show your print out when you board. For more information and booking go to this link.

Using GPS (Nokia Ovi Maps) in Philippines

It was only a week ago since I successfully updated my Nokia N97 from version 10 to version 21. Yes, I was using the primitive version of Nokia N97 which is buggy, prone to crashes and incompatibility of new applications for Nokia for a year. Have this phone day after typhoon Ondoy. Still, I love the phone since I know how to use it properly and avoid crashes by proper memory management. I updated my N97 via Ovi Suite Software Updater for PC. I tried updating it for some months but it keeps on failing maybe because of the intermittent connection to Nokia’s Server. I hesitated to let the Nokia Care people to update my phone since it is required to sign a waiver that they’ll not be liable if they brick the phone. So, the phone is better now, with Kinetic (iPhone like) scrolling and the Free GPS Voice Navigation for Ovi Maps.

I tried having a satellite fix for my GPS while in a car. It took around 3 to 5 minutes to get a fix, but once you get a lock on your GPS unit it’s faster the next time. I advise to use the Location Application first, press the GPS Data, press Position and press option, then select Satellite Position. You’ll be able to see bars with signal strength for GPS Satellites. You need at least 4 to get a fix. Once the signal bars’ color turned blue and coordinates appeared in your screen, that’s an indication of a successful Satellite fix on your Nokia N97 GPS.
